Kings beef up security for Saturday's game against Warriors

Update 6:45 p.m.:

Fans entering the Downtown Commons to watch the Sacramento Kings face of the Golden State Warriors Saturday evening were were greeted with an increased law enforcement presence.

Fans who didn't already have tickets were being sent to a fenced off table instead of the box office. And anyone wanting to enter the Downtown Commons had to have a ticket to the game.

Dozens of Sacramento police officers were stationed at entrances, many in full riot gear and some, even, mounted on horses. One fan said he felt safer entering the arena, especially given the recent protests outside the Golden 1 Center that kept fans from entering the arena.

Update 5:45 p.m.

SACRAMENTO — After protesters blocked fans from enter multiple games over the past week, the Sacramento Kings enacted extra security measures for Thursday night's game against the Indiana Pacers.

This Saturday, when the Kings play the Golden State Warriors, those same extra security measures will continue to be in place for fans to enjoy the game in a safe setting.

In a press release, the Kings said they'll continue to work with the Sacramento Police Department to ensure the safety of guests.

The DOCO plaza will close in the early afternoon, and only re-open to ticketed guests for safe entry into the arena. Ticket checks will continue on the perimeter of the plaza and an increased security presence will be on-site to assist ticketed guests.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early and have their ticket ready to show staff. As part of today's security plans, signs will not be permitted. The Golden 1 Center box office will only open for will call ticket pickup after 3 p.m. Additional tickets may be purchased at Kings.com/sgt.
