Sacramento Kings’ TV color analyst Jerry Reynolds stepping down, transitioning into new role

The former coach and executive for the organization has worked for the team in various capacities for 33 years and will now serve roles with the pregame and postgame shows on television and Sports 1140 KHTK radio broadcasts.

Legendary broadcaster Jerry Reynolds will step down from his position as the Sacramento Kings’ television color analyst following the team's season finale Wednesday, according to NBC Sports California.

The former coach and executive for the organization has worked for the team in various capacities for 33 years and will now serve roles with the pregame and postgame shows on television and Sports 1140 KHTK radio broadcasts.

“I feel like this is the time for me to make a transition in my career. I just don’t feel like I have the interest or the capabilities to be a full-time employee, as much as I’ve enjoyed my time with the Kings,” Reynolds said on The Kings Insider Podcast on NBC Sports California.

Reynolds, who said this is solely his decision, is now 74 years old and cited travel as a concern moving forward. He was offered a multi-year contract before this season but opted for a one-year deal instead, according to NBC Sports California.

Former Kings guard Doug Christie will take over Reynolds’ spot on the television broadcasts.
