4 detours to help you avoid Hwy. 50 construction traffic

SACRAMENTO - Caltrans has advised drivers to prepare for delays of up to an hour during the Fix50 construction project beginning April 22 along the downtown Sacramento portion of Highway 50. It may therefore be beneficial for commuters to seek out alternate routes to circumvent the mass of machinery crawling through downtown Sacramento during the projected two-month project.

Following are maps and two lists of alternate routes for the eastbound and westbound phases of construction provided by the Fix50 website.

If traveling from Rancho Cordova or Folsom to Downtown Sacramento, use Hwy. 50 West to Business-80 North to N or H St. off-ramps. Do not stay on Hwy. 50 West after Business-80 interchange

If traveling from Elk Grove or Galt to Downtown Sacramento, use I-5 North to J St. off-ramp. Do not take SR-99 North to Hwy 50 West.

If traveling from Rancho Cordova or Folsom to Natomas or Davis, use Hwy. 50 West to Business-80 North to Watt Ave. North, to I-80 West. Do not use Hwy. 50 West to Davis or Hwy. 50 West to I-5 North to Natomas.

If traveling through the project area during Phase 2 (Closed connector ramps from Business-80 to Hwy. 50 West), use Hornet Dr. (Howe/Power Inn exit) to turn around onto Hwy. 50 West.

Drivers traveling to the Lake Tahoe area can avoid the project area congestion by taking I-80 East
