FBI seeks information on dangerous fugitive possibly on West Coast

SACRAMENTO - A fugitive the FBI describes as a violent, armed and dangerous may still be in California..

The suspect is Kevin Anthony Briggs. He is a convicted felon and registered sex offender wanted for attacking a woman and a police officer in Bozeman, Montana, according to the FBI.

There were sightings of Briggs in Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco last week, the FBI said.

Briggs also goes by the names MacIntire, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Briggs, Kevin A. Briggs, Timothy McCoy, James Meismer and James Zenon Meismer. Investigators said they believe Briggs may be staying in homeless shelters while earning money for travel possibly to Oregon or Washington.

Briggs was described as white, 5 feet 5 to 7 inches tall and weighing 120 to 150 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. Briggs has several tattoos: a sunburst around his right nipple, a tattoo in his armpit and a tattoo on his lower lip. There is a double "snake bite" piercing on his bottom lip. Briggs has pierced ears and a pierced bellybutton.

When last seen, Briggs was wearing gray sweatpants, a dark-colored hooded jacket or parka, black shoes and a dark baseball cap.

The FBI said Briggs is suicidal. He should not be approached.

Anyone with information about Brigg's whereabouts was urged to contact their nearest FBI office or dial 911. Tips can also be submitted attips.fbi.gov.
