Richland County deputies have arrested a suspect who they say killed a puppy by setting her on fire in a church parking lot.
Hykeem Dontavious Jabar Golson, 21, has been charged with ill treatment of animals felony.
Officers say just before 7 p.m. Saturday night, Golson set fire to an 8-10 week old female pit bull in the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church on Harbison Boulevard. The puppy was taken to an animal hospital where she later died.
Investigators say the man used an accelerant and other materials to set the animal on fire.
A $2,000 reward had been offered in the case. Officers have not yet said why they think he committed the crime.
