Suspected heroin dealer arrested in Rocklin

SACRAMENTO - Rocklin police say they arrested a suspected heroin dealer Thursday night.

Jeremy David Sheffield, 27, of Auburn was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit by officers on Rocklin Road about 11 p.m., according to Lt. Jamie Knox. The chase began when officers checked on a suspicious vehicle on the 4500 block with three people inside and Sheffield ran.

Knox said Sheffield was found with more than 27 grams of what was believed to be heroin in his possession. He was also wanted on three arrest warrants.

The other two people in the car, a man and a woman, drove off while officers were running after Sheffield, Knox said. They and the vehicle were not found but officers recovered drug paraphernalia and a canister of pepper spray where the vehicle had been parked.

The car was described as a gray or silver Honda Civic sedan.

Sheffield was taken to Placer County Jail on booking charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer with injury, two felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant. Jail bail was set at $155,000.
