1 wounded, 1 arrested in Vacaville officer-involved shooting

VACAVILLE, Calif. – One person was wounded and another arrested in an officer-involved shooting in Vacaville early Friday morning.

According to Mark Mazzaferro of the Vacaville Police Department, officers received a call just before midnight of four people causing problems inside a bar at the Hideaway Hotel on Leisure Town Lane.

Shortly after that, traffic officers who did not know of the police report pulled over a car near the hotel. During the traffic stop, they noticed a car driving without headlights on in a nearby field, Mazzaferro said.

At some point, the car headed at the officers who fired their weapons in response, Mazzaferro detailed.

The car then hit a high-voltage box and came to a stop.

One of the four people inside the vehicle was shot in the leg and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for felony DUI and assault with deadly weapon, Mazzaferro said.

Mazzaferro did not say whether the other three individuals would face charges.

The officers were not injured.
