Amazon announced plans to add 30,000 part-time jobs over the next year.
The online retail juggernaut announced Thursday that 25,000 of the jobs will be doing warehouse work while the remaining 5,000 will be in customer service.
More than 70 percent of part-time employees with Amazon work more than 20 hours per week, making them eligible for company benefits, which include life and disability insurance, dental and vision insurance with premiums paid in full by Amazon and funding toward medical insurance.
Part-time employees can also take advantage of a "Career Choice" program, which provides training for "in-demand" jobs at Amazon or elsewhere. The program pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, the company announced.
In January, Amazon announced it would create 100,000 full-time jobs across the United States with full benefits. Most of those positions will be at fulfillment centers, including a new one under construction near Sacramento.
