Woman fights off sexual attacker on Sacramento trail

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man suspected of attempting to sexually assault a woman while she was jogging Friday.

Sheriff's spokesperson Lisa Bowman said a woman in her 20s was jogging along the Arcade Creek Trail near Garfield Ave. when she was approached from behind by a man on a mountain bike. The man grabbed her, pushed her to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her.

The woman fought off the man and ran from the area, Bowman said.

The man was described as black, in his 20s with his hair in cornrows. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He was riding a mountain bike with some pink color detail.

The Sheriff's Department urged anyone with

information about the male in the sketch or the attack to contact Detective Jones with the Sheriff's Department's Sexual Abuse Bureau at (916) 874-5070. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com by entering the keyword 'SSD', or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
