Colusa couple kidnaps boy after he makes their child cry

COLUSA - A Colusa couple were arrested Friday evening after they allegedly kidnapped a 13-year-old boy because he made their child cry.

Witnesses who were with the victim at Memorial Grove Park told Colusa police that Rebecca Carranza-Molina, 44, and Jose Alfred Molina, 56, kidnapped the boy from a street corner after he inadvertently hurt one of their small children.

According to the witnesses, Carranza-Molina became angry with the 13-year-old boy, striking him several times and taking his bicycle away from him. After the victim recovered his bike and left, Carranza-Molina drove home to pick up her husband.

When the couple drove back, they found the victim walking away from the park. The couple chased the boy down the block and forced him into their minivan. One of the witnesses called the police.

Police said the suspects then drove to their home in the 400 block of 14th Street and kept the boy in their house until he apologized for making their child cry.

Police arrived to the couple's house as the victim was apologizing. Officers arrested the couple and the boy was then released to his grandparents.

Carranza-Molina and Molina were booked in Colusa County Jail on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment and child cruelty. Their bail was set at 100,000.
