Calaveras Unified School District teachers went on strike closing the schools on Thursday and Friday but it looks like classes will be open Monday.
Mark Campbell, Superintendent of the Calaveras Unified School District, says that all elementary school sites will be open Monday.
Campbell says that there will be sufficient staffing, using district staff as well as substitutes, and they're working to re-open the middle school and high schools once adequate staff is available.
The strike is due to the district offering a two percent increase while the teachers union is demanding 6.5 percent, said Campbell. They're working on further negotiations with the union to help resolve this issue and return teachers to their classrooms.
