2 CHP officers killed in Hwy. 99 crash identified

KINGSBURG, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says two officers were killed in an early morning accident in Fresno County.

CHP Capt. Dave Paris said the officers were killed while responding to a call of a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in the Central Valley town of Kingsburg around 6 a.m. Monday.

The CHP identified the officers as Juan Jaime Gonzalez, 33, of Fresno, who was the driver, and Brian Mitchio Law, 34, of Clovis.

Paris says the officers' car lost control and slammed into a guardrail. Gonzalez and Law died after their vehicle overturned.

Paris said the highway was expected to be closed for most of the day as accident reconstruction teams investigate what happened.
