3 bills Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law

Sunday's deadline for Gov. Jerry Brown to sign bills into law has come and gone. Here is what you might have missed:

1. Free community college:

AB 19 allows community colleges to waive fees -- for the first year -- for first-time students enrolled in at least 12 units, as long as they complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application.

2. Free tampons, pads in middle and high school bathrooms:

AB10 requires low-income middle and high schools to provide free tampons and pads in at least half of the school's bathrooms.

The state will reimburse schools for the costs.

3. Increased tolls on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge?

Voters from the Bay Area's nine counties still have to decide this one, but it'll be on the ballot. SB 595 allows the Bay Area Bridge Authority to put up to a $3 toll increase on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge up for vote in 2018.

So, a $9 toll is possible (up from $6) during weekday work hours on this bridge.
