San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has staged a protest during the national anthem since the preseason, does not plan to participate in Tuesday's election.
Asked if he had already voted early Tuesday afternoon, Kaepernick only told reporters "no," according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. He gave the same response when asked if he planned to vote later.
Kaepernick previously expressed disdain for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trumpas presidential candidates.
"It was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates," Kaepernick said in September after the first presidential debate. "Both are proven liars and it almost seems like they're trying to debate who's less racist.
"And at this point ... you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it's still evil."
Kaepernick first sat and now takes a knee during the playing of the anthem before games to protest wrongdoings against African-Americans and other minorities, he said.
