Missing toddler found, Amber Alert lifted

UPDATED: Sacramento police have confirmed the 7-month-old that was abducted Monday has been found safe as well as his mother, effectively canceling the Amber Alert.

California Highway Patrol officials confirmed both were found near Downieville, just north of Nevada City and Grass Valley. They appear to be in good health and are currently being evaluated by medical personnel, CHP said.

Sierra County sheriff’s investigators confirmed earlier they had found the 2005 silver Subaru Forrester believed to be driven by the mother suspected of abducting the baby.

Investigators are now searching the area around the discovered car in the hopes of finding 35-year-old Ruth Ashley.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert Monday after it was reported Ashley had taken the child, Henry Massey.

The baby is described as being 26 inches tall, weighing 15 pounds with brown hair and grey eyes. Officials say Ashley stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of either Massey or Ashley, call the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department at (707)565-2121.
