‘Jeopardy!’ host Alex Trebek started a social media war with one word: Losers.

This all went down on Wednesday’s episode when Trebek was asking contestant Susan Cole about her favorite kind of music: Nerdcore Hip Hop.

Here’s what went down:

Cole: “People who identify as nerdy rapping about the things they love, video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners, you know? It’s really catchy and fun.”

Trebek: “Losers, in other words?”

The internet was not happy.

Ian Justman of North Highlands was watching and took offense.

“I think maybe the people who are the most likely to call people losers because they’re ‘nerds’ are those who don’t understand what the passion, that’s behind doing some of this stuff,” said Justman.

Justman added that ‘nerd genius’ is what’s responsible for a lot of things people use every day: laptops, cell phones, the internet, etc. and maybe they deserve some respect.
