New Drought Monitor shows big relief for Northern California

Top part of California is out of the drought…for now.

Abundant October rain brought big relief to drought conditions in the northwest corner of the state. The updated Drought Monitor shows this part of the state out of any drought category.

The rest of the state still remains in some drought category with the hardest hit still being in the central and southern part of California.

The Drought Outlook shows some return to drought conditions in the extreme northern part of the state through January. This is due to unknown long-term winter conditions for rain and snow.  Top part of California is out of the drought…for now.
