Police in Lincoln have shot and killed a man outside of a McDonald's after he was seen brandishing a weapon and refusing to cooperate.

According to Jill Thompson of the Lincoln Police Department, just before 11:30 a.m. police received calls of a man with a gun on the east side of the city. Police were familiar with the suspect  and went to his home. The suspect was not at home, so police began a search for the suspect's vehicle, which eventually led them to McDonald's at J and 3rd Streets.

When police arrived, they approached the suspect. That's when he drew a knife. He was instructed by officers to drop the knife at least twice, but the suspect refused to cooperate. It was at that point that one of the responding officers shot the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
