The Downtown Sacramento Foundation is calling on all dreamers who've always wanted to open their business.
As part of the Fifth Annual Calling All Dreamers competition, you submit an application for a business start-up package to open in downtown Sacramento.
"It is a Shark Tank style competition that makes your dream a reality," Valerie Mamone, Senior Manager of Business Development for the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, said.
The start-up package is valued at more than $100,000.
Andy Paul, the first winner of the program, opened Andy's Candy Apothecary in 2013. Mamone says the recently expanded candy store is still going strong, exceeding sales projections year over year.
"We've also seen a total of 15 new businesses open as a result of applying for the competition," Mamone said. "Ten of those have opened in our district, the rest have opened throughout the central city and everyone is still successfully running their business."
