Three brands of an over-the-counter children’s medicine have been recalled over an amount of a potentially poisonous ingredient, belladonna.
Raritan Pharmaceuticals issued a voluntary recall announcement Thursday, stating the U.S. Food & Drug Administration tests determined varying amounts of belladonna from the amount stated on 135-tablet bottles:
- CVS Homeopathic Infants’ Teething Tablets in lot Nos. 41116 and 43436 with UPC code 050428424162.
- CVS Homeopathic Kids’ Ear Relief Liquid, lot No. 35254 with UPC code 050428441633.
- Kids Relief Homeopathic Ear Relief Oral Liquid, lot No. 33149 with UPC code 778159090639.
According to the press release, the products have a very small amount of belladonna, a substance that can cause harm in larger doses. The company is voluntarily recalling the product out of caution.
These products were distributed nationwide.
