1 in custody after wild pursuit, suspect search in Woodland neighborhood

SACRAMENTO - A person is in custody Thursday morning following a wild pursuit of a truck Woodland police say was stolen.

California Highway Patrol reports stated officers began pursuing the truck around 5:31 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 at the Interstate 505 split near Dunnigan. The driver continued to Woodland, reaching speeds as high as 100 m.p.h. before exiting at West St.

Officers backed off the pursuit out of concern for public safety but later found the truck crashed outside a home in the area of Palomar Ln. and West St. The driver was not found with the truck.

Woodland police and CHP officers surrounded the area and began searching for the driver.

A person was taken into custody a short time later.
