Police investigating fatal stabbing in Woodland

SACRAMENTO – Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a person in Woodland Tuesday.

Woodland Police Department spokesman Brett Hancock said officers were dispatched to a report of a physical altercation and stabbing on the 600 block of Elm St. at approximately 10:40 p.m. Upon arrival, they located a person suffering a stab wound and immediately called for medical aid.

The stabbing victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from the Woodland Police Department and the Yolo County Coroner's Office then responded to take over the investigation, Hancock said.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of kin.

No information was provided on a possible suspect.
