Police: Woman thwarts sexual assault in Davis park

A woman escaped an assault at a Davis park Thursday afternoon, police say.

The victim was walking in John Barovetto Park near the intersection of Arroyo Avenue and Alhambra Drive at 1:48 p.m. The police report stated a man came up to the woman, grabbed her from behind, pushed up her dress and tried to sexually assault her.

The woman broke away and ran to a nearby house for help. She told officers she last saw the man near a bus stop at Alhambra Boulevard.

She was not hurt.

The assailant was described as white, around 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was clean-shaven. He wore a red t-shirt, khaki shorts, dark brown Ugg-style slippers or boating shoes and a dark baseball cap.
