SACRAMENTO - A 15-year-old girl in Elk Grove said she was drugged and sexually assaulted by a group of teenage boys. Cellphone video could be crucial in this case because the attack was possibly recorded by one of the boys.
This mother doesn't want to be identified, but claims her daughter and another teenage girl was drugged, and even worse, possibly sexually assaulted by as many as nine teenage boys. She says it happened sometime early Sunday morning when her daughter and a friend snuck out of the house to go to a nearby park to meet several boys and another girl.
That's where things got fuzzy. The woman's daughter doesn't remember anything after that.
When she returned to Franklin High School on Tuesday, she learned that someone recorded cellphone video of her that night. It shows her passed out. It possibly even shows the assault. The video was circulating around school.
The Vice Principal got a hold of the video Tuesday because a suspect's parent confiscated the student's cellphone. The VP immediately reported it to police.
"I don't know how out of it I was. I had no clue. I was out of it," the 15-year-old victim said.
"We're numb. We can't believe this has happened," the victim's mother said. "The saddest part, they were not strangers to my daughter."
Police said it is early in the investigation, but detectives are looking into the case.
There are all sorts of threats on social media as well, telling those involved not to talk to police.
But the victim, her family and police say anyone who knows anything needs to come forward to prevent something like this from happening again.
