17 bikes recovered from Folsom bike shop theft

Seventeen bicycles stolen from a Folsom bike shop in April were recovered by Folsom police during a sting operation.

The alleged thief, 36-year-old Ishkan Amirkhanyan of Citrus Heights, was arrested Monday.

The Trek bikes, and others still missing, were in a trailer that was stolen two months, according to police. The bikes were valued at approximately $5,000 each.

Police said they arranged a meeting with the suspect who was selling a bike believed to be ones of those stolen. They confirmed the bike was stolen and that led them to arrest Amirkhanyan who had a second stolen bike with him. Officers obtained a search warrant for Amirkhanyan's home where 15 more bikes from the theft were found.

Amirkhanyan was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

Police were still searching for additional stolen bicycles. Anyone with information or who bought a bicycle from Amirkhanyan was asked to call Det. Timothy Galovich at (916) 355-7241.
