The El Dorado County Coroner's Office released the causes of death for four men who died in a boating accident two weeks ago on Folsom Lake.
The men's bodies were found within four days of each other in the lake. The coroner's office said on Wednesday that:
- James Strauch, 47, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Friday, May 16.
- Toby Strauch, 54, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Saturday, May 17.
- Gerald Jacobs, 53, died of an aortic transection. His body was found on Saturday, May 17.
- Kenneth Smith, 48, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Monday, May 19.
The men were on a speed boat on Saturday, May 10 when it capsized in the middle of Folsom Lake, near Brown's Ravine.
The speed boat, which is 35 to 40 feet long, was recovered by search crews the day of the accident. Rescue personnel had been searching for the men since the day of the crash.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
