Coroner identifies man's body found in Folsom Lake search

Authorities said a body was found in Folsom Lake Friday morning during a state parks patrol of the lake.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's/Coroner's Office identified the body on Saturday as 47-year-old James Andrew Strauch, one of the four men who was reported missing in a boating accident last week. The cause of death has not been determined yet.

Strauch; Toby Strauch, 54; Jake Jacobs, 53; and Jon Smith, 47, were reported missing on Saturday, May 10, 2014, when a speed boat the men were in capsized in the middle of the lake, near Brown's Ravine, that afternoon.

The speed boat, which is 35 to 40 feet long, was recovered by search crews the day of the accident.

Since last week, searchers on jet skis, boats and dive teams were in the water to looking for the men. On Thursday, searchers from several agencies announced they were scaling back their recovery efforts.

The park has restricted access to the area where the boat capsized, but the lake is still open to the public.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
