Man who coached swimming in Folsom sentenced for child sex crime

A 23-year-old former Folsom swim coach was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 20 years of probation following his release for attempted enticement of a 13-year-old.

In his plea agreement, Eric Johnston attested to arranging to meet who he thought was the young teen at a hotel. However, upon arriving there, Johnston was arrested by law enforcement. He agreed to let officers assume his identity in communicating a message to Nicholas Perry that he was at the hotel. Perry arrived to also be arrested.

According to federal prosecutors, the investigation into Johnston also determined he had been having sexual relations with an underage individual. He was sentenced in Sacramento Superior Court to two years behind bars for that crime. He will serve that penalty in conjunction with the federal sentence.

As for Perry, he also pled guilty to attempted enticement of a minor. Sentencing information was not readily available.
