High school students arrested for alleged sexual assault

Two Sonora High school students have been accused of sexual assault and placed under arrest.

The teens were at a party on the 600 block of Skyline Drive in Tamarack on June 21 when the alleged attack took place, Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department said.

Investigators learned kids were drinking alcohol at the party.

Eberhardt said the suspects were 16 and 17 years old at the time. After their arrest on Thursday, they were taken to the county Probation Department.

The sheriff's department did not provide information on the alleged victim.
