The Sacramento Metro Fire Department is investigating an arson at a hotel in North Highlands.
At approximately 10 a.m., a fire, now ruled as arson, occurred at the Courtyard Inn, according to officials.
Upon arrival, a first-alarm response was upgraded to a second-alarm response due to the fire conditions. The engine that first arrived was able to attack the fire quickly, limiting the damage to the unit where it started. An additional three units received water damage, officials said.
The hotel room where the fire occurred was not booked at the time of the fire and signs of forced entry were noted by officials. After further investigation of the scene, a Metro Fire Arson Investigator was able to rule the cause of the fire as arson.
No injuries were reported due to the fire.
