Manteca park shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 wounded

One person has died and another was wounded in a shooting at a Manteca park overnight.

Detectives believe the shooting was not random.

According to Sgt. Jodie Estarziau with the Manteca Police Department, officers investigating a report of shots fired at a park (Doxey Park) on the 1300 block of Northgate Drive just before 1 a.m. found two males in the area with gunshot wounds.

One of the males had a life-threatening injury, Estarziau said. He was taken to a local hospital but did not survive. His name has not been released.

The other male was treated by emergency responders at the scene.

No information on the shooter or shooters nor was a motive immediately available.
