Each Halloween for the past 23 years, a Manteca resident has taken his love of horror films to the extreme.

Rick Feuerstein calls himself the “Mad Scientist.” He's spent thousands of dollars over the years on an elaborate set based on the original Frankenstein film.

“It started kind of small and then every year I would add [to it],” Feuerstein said.

The display is full of all kinds of scary props that pop out, light up, and make noise.

Feuerstein is somewhat of a horror enthusiast, noting he really likes the classics.

“Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man with Lon Chaney, Creature from the Black Lagoon,” Feuerstein said. “Then it was like, it was ominous and dark, and I just enjoyed the feeling of it.”

The display will be open to the public on Halloween at his home, 1373 Pajaro Ave..
