For several days Amador County sheriff’s deputies had been searching for 79-year-old missing woman Christine Merten.
Sadly, the search for Merten came to an end with the discovery of her body Sunday afternoon.
Search and rescue teams, with the help of a canine, searched the rugged, bruhy terrain north of Merten’s Pioneer home after a four-day search for the woman when her body was discovered.
The 79-year-old had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
While the woman’s cause of death has not yet been reported, rescue crews do not believe foul play was involved.
