Murder suspect shot, killed by Merced County deputies

A double-murder suspect was shot and killed by Merced County deputies Saturday morning.

The suspect was tracked to a Motel 6 in the 200 block of South Walnut Road around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Turlock Police Officer Mayra Lewis said. Deputies called police to assist in the search at the motel.

At the motel, two deputies shot and killed the suspect. Information about what led to the shooting is unclear. The suspect's identity has not been released.

The deputies were placed paid leave as per standard procedure.

Lewis said the suspect was wanted for shooting a killing two people late Friday night in the 11100 block of Lander Avenue in Turlock. The victims' names have not been released.
