Police: Teen forced off Modesto street at gunpoint, sexually assaulted

Modesto police say a teenage girl was sexually assaulted at gunpoint Friday morning in northwest Modesto.

The girl was jogging north on West Morris Avenue just past McHenry Avenue at about 7:45 a.m. when a man with a handgun confronted her, police spokesperson Heather Graves said. Pointing the gun at her, he forced her into his car and drove to the front of a vacant house in a residential neighborhood.

It was there that he sexually assaulted her, Graves said. After, he drove to near Enslen Park where he dropped her off and drove away.

The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries, Graves said.

The girl described the attacker as Hispanic, possibly in his 20s, and about 6 feet tall and weighing 140 pounds. He had hazel eyes and a 4-to-5-inch black tattoo on his upper left arm.

The man's car was a black Acura coupe with chrome rim wheels, according to the victim.

Anyone with information that could help police catch the rapist was urged to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters may also text information to Crime Stoppers at 274637. Type "TIP704" along with your message.
