A grass fire erupted in a remote section of North Natomas just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
At least 15 rigs responded to the area of West Elkhorn Road near East Levy Road to battle a blaze that burned as many as eight vehicles, several outbuildings and a mobile home.
The flames and the lights from the fire engines could be seen as far as Interstate 5.
The property owner was not home at the time of the fire. No one was hurt.
Windy conditions and dry grass fueled the flames. Several small propane tanks on the property ended up venting because of the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
