A Placerville teacher has been arrested and charged with sexual misconduct with children.

According to a press release from the Placerville Police Department, police were called to El Dorado High School earlier this month after being alerted of allegations that a math teacher, Daniel Mummy, 33, had unlawfully touched female students while they were at school. Police learned Mummy has been engaging in this behavior since October of 2016.

Mummy has been charged with seven counts of annoying or molesting children, a misdemeanor; and one count of sexual battery by person of authority, a felony. Mummy has since been released from the El Dorado County Jail.
