1 shot, 1 arrested in dispute between Rancho Cordova co-workers

Correction: An earlier version of this story indicating the man had died as a result of the shooting has been corrected.

SACRAMENTO – A man was shot in what Sacramento sheriff's officials are labeling a dispute between co-workers Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on the 3200 block of Fitzgerald Rd. in Rancho Cordova.

Sacramento Sheriff's Sergeant Lisa Bowman said witnesses at the scene reported a 44-year-old employee of the business was shot by 52-year-old Cristobel Chavez following an argument. Chavez then fled the scene.

Bowman said the victim was transported from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

An initial tweet from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department indicated the man had died from the shooting, but they later released a correction, confirming the man was not deceased.

Chavez was later apprehended in north Sacramento and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
