Turlock sisters spread cheer at Modesto hospital

Turlock sisters are going above and beyond to consistently spread cheer at a Modesto hospital (March 2, 2017).

Recovering from surgery, Christine Scheuermann got a visit from a pair of strangers.

“Can I have a hug?" she told the strangers.

The strangers were two young ladies with a get well card.

“Been in the hospital since Tuesday and wasn’t feeling well today. They told me the kids were going to come by and give me a get well card so it really brightened up my day a lot," Scheuremann said.

The cards are compliments of sisters, 13-year-old Aireanna and 11-year-old Annalisce Agueda of Turlock.

The pair visited their sick grandfather recovering from an illness, but they wanted to do more with get well cards.

“We decided to do this because sometimes people don’t have a relative to come and visit them," said Aireanna Agueda.

The girls design the cards by hand from scratch. They write different "get well" words of encouragement and each card is unique.

“Roses are red, violets are blue and I hope you get out of the hospital soon," reads one card.

“Celebrate because you’re going to get out of the hospital soon. Get well," reads another card.

They are simple but effective.

For two days, the sisters have marched through the corridors of Modesto’s Memorial Medical Center like pied pipers of patients.

They've handed out close to a dozen cards of hope, straight from the heart.

"It makes me feel good because you’re doing something good to other people," Annalisce Agueda said.

“I think it’s really great. It’s a way to brighten a patient’s day and make them feel better," nurse Irene Morris said.

Lawrence Ferdani can attest to that.

“Staying in the hospital is not the best thing. And to have young ladies like this come in is very, very appreciative," says Ferdani.

“I’m very proud of them. They have good intentions doing this. They’re very close to their grandpa and that’s how it started all out," the girls' mother, Melanie Agueda, said.

Two sisters with one idea: Unselfishly spreading the love, one card at a time.
