Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting at Sacramento house party

SACRAMENTO – An arrest was made Sunday in connection with a fatal shooting at a party on the 300 block of River Bend Circle Saturday.

Sacramento police spokesman Doug Morse said officers responded to the initial call of a shooting around 1:33 a.m. Saturday and found a 21-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

According to Morse, a preliminary investigation into the incident revealed the man had been shot inside an apartment during a party. Homicide and gang detectives quickly followed up on leads which led them to an apartment complex on the 2200 block of Gateway Oaks Dr. the next evening.

Detectives and officers surrounded the residence, evacuated some surrounding units and called for SWAT officers to make contact with 23-year-old Bryan Thomas at approximately 8:33 p.m. About two hours after the initial contact effort was made, Thomas came out, surrendered and was taken into custody, Morse said.
