Sacramento man receives 15-year, 6-month sentence for torturing his dog

A Sacramento judge handed up a maximum sentence to a local man found guilty of animal torture.

Robert Lee Brian was sentenced to 15 years, six months in prison after a jury in March found him guilty of animal abuse.

At trial, Brian's neighbors testified he hit, punched and kicked his pit bull and withheld water and food from the dog.

The Sacramento Bee reported animal control officers found remains of three dogs in the defendant's backyard.
