SACRAMENTO - The Amgen Tour of California on Thursday announced the routes of this year's eight-day cycling event which is set to begin Sunday, May 11.
The first leg and longest at 123 miles starts and ends at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Riders will pedal from downtown Sacramento up along the Sacramento River to Pleasant Grove and then sprint in Lincoln. From there they ride into Auburn for another sprint before going uphill along Highway 49. Then it will be downhill back down to Sacramento for a fast three circuits around the State Capitol.
Day two is a flat 12 and a half-mile time trial in Folsom.
The race concludes May 18, in Thousands Oaks in Southern California. Information on all of the stages is available on the Amgen Tour of California website.
