Amgen Tour of California announces 2018 Host Cities, race schedule

The 2018 Host Cities include the return of fan and race team favorites, long-time veterans like San Jose and Sacramento, and two first-time destinations: Ventura and King City.

One of cycling’s biggest races is returning to the Sacramento region.

AEG, owner and presenter of the Amgen Tour of California, announced the 11 host cities across California for its 13th rendition of the premiere cycling race event, scheduled for May 13 through 19.

The men’s race will cover more than 600 miles of roadways, highways and coastlines from Long Beach to Sacramento.

The women’s race will run concurrently with the men’s race May 17 through 19, covering upward of 150 miles over three stages.

The 2018 cities include the return of long-time hosts like San Jose and Sacramento as well as the addition of two new destinations, Ventura and King City.

Last year, Amgen brought in an estimated $5 million for the City of Sacramento and packed thousands of spectators into the downtown area to see the race.

The start and finish of that race were held at the State Capitol.
