A man accused of being hired to kill a Sacramento woman's husband has been convicted by a jury of murder.
Jake Clark, was found guilty of shooting and killing 53-year-old Ghulam Ayobi on Dec. 13, 2011, Sacramento County District Attorney's Office spokesperson Shelly Orio said.
According to court testimony, investigators found that Clark was hired by Ayobi's wife Shajia Ayobi to kill her husband. The victim was shot in the upper body during an apparent carjacking on Interstate 80 near Norwood Avenue. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Clark was arrested in March 2013. His sentencing was scheduled for July 25.
Ayobi was previously convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 26 years to life in prison.
