On Sunday, a group of 20 disabled veterans will participate in the 2017 Sacramento Spartan Race at the Van Vleck Ranch.

Hundreds will participate in the three mile race full of obstacles.

A non-profit veteran charity called Ranger Road, which brings veterans together through physical activities, will bring the team together.

Many of these veterans lost limbs in combat. They will be carried no stretchers through the race by fellow veterans.

Those participating were raised in the Sacramento region but many have never met before.

The team captain is a recently retired U.S. Marine, Marcuss Hernandez, of Galt. Hernandez said the event is a way to get Veterans together to show support for one another.
