Woodland resident Frank T. Rees pled no contest Tuesday to three charges in connection to the death of his infant son, Justice Rees, according to the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
District Attorney Jeff Reisig, trial prosecutors and members of the Sheriff's Office will be holding a press conference this afternoon to discuss the details of the plea agreement.
Rees, 31, pled no contest to felony abusing or endangering the health of a child, involuntary manslaughter and administering a controlled substance to the infant's mother, Samantha Green.
As part of the plea agreement, Rees agreed to serve six years in state prison. If the case had gone to trial and Rees were convicted of all charges, the maximum sentence he could have received is nine years, according to the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
Baby Justice was 19 days old when he died from environmental exposure due to neglect on February 23, 2015 in the Ridge Cut Slough near Knights Landing. Officials determined the infant was left outside by Green while she was high on methamphetamine.
A Yolo County jury Green of murder in September of 2016 for her principal role in the baby’s death. She was sentenced to 15 years to life in December 2016.
The press conference will be held at 4 p.m. at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
