Former Fox40 anchor Sabrina Rodriguez' ex-fiance on suicide watch

SACRAMENTO - The ex-fiance and shoplifting co-defendant of former Fox40 anchor Sabrina Rodriguez missed a Tuesday morning court appearance because he was on suicide watch at the Sacramento County Jail, a source told News10.

Jail records showed Nicholas Gray, 30, had been moved to a psychiatric wing on the second floor of the main jail.

Gray and Rodriguez faced charges stemming from the March 2013 theft of $2,500 worth of wallets from the Coach outlet store in Folsom.

Gray faced additional charges related to an explosion and fire in May at their south Sacramento home that investigators said was caused by Gray producing highly volatile butane honey oil.

Rodriguez last week announced her resignation from Fox40 and said she had also severed all ties with Gray.

Rodriguez was released on $10,000 bail after surrendering on an arrest warrant July 31, the same day Gray was booked into the main jail on the fire and drug charges.

According to court documents, if Gray posted his $600,000 bail, he must first prove the proceeds did not come from drug sales.
