Pedestrian struck and killed on Morse Avenue identified

SACRAMENTO - A 20-year-old Sacramento man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of marijuana when he struck a pedestrian on eastbound El Camino Avenue near Morse Avenue Sunday night.

The pedestrian, identified by the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday as 20-year-old Alejandro Adams-Zuniga of Sacramento County, was standing in a left turn lane when he was hit by a blue Dodge pick-up driven by Kyle Brennan, California Highway Patrol Officer Lizz Dutton said. The impact sent the pedestrian into the westbound lane of El Camino. A white Yaris in the westbound lane being driven by a 34-year-old man from Sacramento could not stop in time and Adams-Zuniga was hit again, Dutton said.

Adams-Zuniga was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was reported at 9:25 p.m. Dutton said it was raining at the time.
