Sacramento Co. deputies search for missing mom

CORRECTION April 22: Danielle Pruden has been missing for four days. Information that she was missing for longer has been deleted.

A mother who moved to Sacramento County from Kentucky was reported missing by her roommates.

Danielle Pruden, 29, was last seen on April 18 around 6 p.m. She is considered at-risk because it is out of character for her not to be in contact with her family and roommates, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said.

Pruden is described as a white woman, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 155 pounds. She has blue eyes and blond hair. The accompanying photograph shows her with brown hair.

Pruden moved to California last month to continue pursuing a nursing career. Last week, she moved into Meagan Shuts and her boyfriend's North Highlands home in the 6000 block of Demuth Circle. Pruden was renting out a bedroom from the couple she found through a Craigslist ad.

Shuts said Pruden had lived at the home for just four days when she stepped out of the house on Friday, but never returned. All her belongings were left behind, including her precious dog named Wesson.

"She loves her dog very much. She's not going to abandon him," Shuts said.

Over the weekend, Shuts tried calling her phone, but it went straight to voicemail. That's when they became worried and contacted authorities.

"I don't know where she is and I'm not that close to her," Shuts said. "We were just becoming friends."

In her room, Pruden has pictures of her 8-year-old daughter who is back in Kentucky. Shuts said Pruden called her daughter every day.

"She went disappearing Easter weekend. Her phone would have been on," Shuts said. "She would have been calling her daughter, wishing her happy Easter."

Pruden was driving her 2006, cream-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser with a black top and Kentucky license plate number 147PZB.

Tips about Pruden can be reported to the sheriff's department at (916) 874-5115.
