Sacramento couple faces charges in baby daughter's death

SACRAMENTO - A Sacramento couple is in custody, facing charges of child endangerment for the mysterious death of their 3-month-old daughter.

Police arrested Anthony Mial and Felecia Williams, 36, Thursday.

Authorities believe they used drugs before falling asleep with baby Anthoniece Mial on Feb. 15. When they woke up 12 hours later, the baby was dead.

Loved ones find that hard to believe.

"I think it was a misunderstanding," said Dajanique Johnson, the girlfriend of Felicia Williams' son.

"She has five other kids," Williams' son Michael Woodley said. "She's never done anything to harm us."

Woodley and his girlfriend live with Mial and Willliams. They don't know what happened to baby Anthoniece.

"Her dying. It just really takes my heart away because I heard her crying," Johnson said. "I feel like I should have gotten up and knocked on the door. Even if we knocked on the door, didn't think that would have woken them up either."

Woodley and his girlfriend had no comment in response to allegations that Mial and Williams were using drugs.

Police believe the baby had been dead for several hours before she was discovered. The exact cause of death is still unknown because the coroner's report hasn't been released yet.

Both Mial and Williams are being held on a $50,000 bail.
